Nana Addo want salary of teachers increased – Education Minister

Immediate past Minister for Education and Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh in the 2020 academic year hinted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo wants the salary of teachers to be increased.
Speaking on Peace 104.3 FM Kokrokoo show monitored by AcademicWeek, NAPO said Nana Addo anytime gets angry when told how much teachers in the country receive as a monthly salary and demands an increment of the arrears.
“For the teachers’ salary, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo when told gets angry and tell me; NAPO increase the teacher’s salary arrears”, the Minister in charge of Energy told host of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show Kwame Sefa Kayi.
Commending teachers in the country for their enormous contribution to the education sector, particularly in the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program, Dr Opoku Prempeh said the NPP government has better plans for them.
“The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has teachers at heart, we will do all our best to make sure to better their conditions of service to enable them to teach prospective students in the country,” NAPO told Sefa Kayi.
Meanwhile, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo as teachers in the country continue to urge the central government for better condition of service has said teaching is a low-paying profession to make Ghanaian teachers millionaires.
The President of the Republic made the candid comment when the leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) paid a courtesy call at the Golden Jubilee House to invite him for their 94th Anniversary.
Advising Ghanaian teachers on how they can contribute to the welfare of society, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa encouraged them to do other side jobs aside from teaching that will fetch them sufficient money.
“Nevertheless I don’t think anywhere in the world that people go into teaching and expect to become millionaires and make money if you want to do that you do other things,” Nana Addo Dankwa told the leadership of the Teacher Union.
