CSSPS: Cluster system not replacing self-placement – MoE

The Ministry of Education says the newly introduced cluster of school system forms part of an effort to ensure the smooth selection of the school process but not purposely to replace the self-placement module at the CSSPS.
A spokesman for the Ministry, Kwasi Kwarteng in an interview monitored by AcademicWeek said students who sat for the 32nd edition of BECE for School will have the opportunity to do self-placement aside from the cluster base system.
“This year we have only introduced a cluster of the school system as a new feature to the school selection process. Automatic placement and self-placement will still be used in the computer school placement,” Mr Kwarteng noted.
What is self-placement?
Self-placement or self-school placement is a process that allows prospective BECE candidates to go into the computerized school selection and placement system (CSSPS) to select from schools with available vacancies.
The self-school placement was introduced in 2017 by the Akufo-Addo-led government to ensure more qualified 2022 BECE graduates are placed into various public second-cycle schools to benefit Free Senior High School (Free SHS).
In a discussion with AcademicWeek, a staff of the Ghana Education Service said a candidate when asked to do self-placement does not mean he or she did not perform well in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
How to do self-school placement
1. Visit the computer school placement portal
3. Enter your Index number
4. Choose your residential preference (i.e Day or Boarding).
This year’s 2022 selection of schools process will begin from October 31, 2022, to November 18, 2022. Parents of BECE for School graduates who will partake in the exercise have been urged to take a keen interest in the school selection.
The Ministry in charge of Education says a video to explain the 2022 school selection guidelines to prospective candidates has been produced. The school’s selection video it said will be played on radio and television stations.
