Meta verifies Education Minister’s Facebook account with blue tick

Meta (formerly the Facebook company) after Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum was announced as the country’s Minister for Education in President Nana Akufo-Addo’s second term government has granted his Facebook account a blue tick badge.
The Member of Parliament for the Bosomtwe Constituency in a social media post sighted by AcademicWeek announcing his approval as a verified Facebook user said Ghanaians should look out for the blue tick by his name.
“Please be notified that formally my official Facebook page, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has been verified. Look out for the blue tick by my name. This is my only official Facebook page,” the Education Minister said in a Facebook post.
According to the Minister in Charge of Education, his verified Facebook account will only be used for official communication and engagement with constituents and the members of the general public at large.
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum further stated that on no account will he use his Facebook Page or any other social media handle to solicit funds, hence the public is to disregard any other account bearing his name for that act.
The Educationist in line with the above has urged the general public to report any fake or suspicious pages, or activities in his name to the Management of Facebook Inc., and also to his official website www.yawoseiadutwum.com.

Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum born April 9, 1964, is a Ghanaian politician and Member of Parliament representing the Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
From Jachie in Greater Kumasi, Dr Yaw Adutwum is an old student of the Kumasi High School (KUMACA) in Ashanti Region-Ghana, where he had his Advanced level education certificate.
The Bosomtwe Member of Parliament obtained a bachelor’s degree in Land Economy (Business Administration with a major in Real Estate) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He also holds a master’s degree in Education Management from the University of La Verne and a PhD in Educational Policy, Planning and Administration from the University of Southern California.
He founded the New Designs Charter Schools and International Studies Academy which served as a small learning community for students to thrive academically and socially.
Dr Yaw Adutwum prior to the establishment of the school worked as a Mathematics and Information Technology teacher at the Manual Arts High School for ten years and also served as the lead Maths teacher in the USC/ Manual Arts Neighborhood Academic Initiative (NAI).
in March 2017, Yaw Adutwum was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to serve as Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Pre-tertiary Education.
