MoE cautions WASSCE students over usage of phones on campus

The Ministry of Education (MoE) following a phone incident which has led to the arrest of a 2023 WASSCE candidate of Adisadel College by the Police has warned all Senior High School students to stop using phones on campus.
Speaking to prospective students of the Cape-Coast-based Senior High School, the Deputy Minister for Education, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour urged them to obey the rules and regulations in the school and also stop bullying.
The Reverend Minister also calmed down the students of Adisadel College and advised them not to repeat that behaviour in future. He further encouraged the final year students to study hard ahead of the 2023 WASSCE and champion a sign of good behaviour.
Tasking staff, students and management to promote good culture in Adisadel, Honourable John Ntim Fordjour admonished that the incident should occasion a new paradigm shift for good behaviour in the school.
Commenting on the unfortunate incident which captured a final year student violently assaulting his junior in the dormitory, the Education Minister said his outfit and the Ghana Education Service have also handed over the issue to the police for further legal action.
“Currently, the affected students are receiving psycho-social support from our counsellors. Generally, the atmosphere is calm and everything has come back to normalcy,” GES said in a social media post sighted by AcademicWeek.com.
The Ghana Education Service update comes after the Deputy Minister of Education accompanied by the Deputy Director General-Management Services, GES, paid a working visit to Adisadel College to interact with the management, staff and students on the assault incident that occurred in the school.
The visit according to GES, an agency under the auspices of the Ministry in Charge of Education (MoE) was to ensure that matters arising in Adisadel College are solved and that the serenity is not compromised.
“During an engagement with the school management, Ntim Fordjour informed them that the medical report of the victim showed no significant damage or injury,” it said in the post adding that “the Ministry and Ghana Education Service have provided counselling sessions to the parents of the victim and culprit.”
