OWASS, MOTOWN and PRESEC to compete in 2023/24 NSMQ final

Kumasi-based Opoku Ware School and Accra-based Senior High Schools Achimotal School and Presbyterian Boys Senior High School are the qualified schools to compete in this year’s National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ) final.

The semi-final stage of the 2023 edition of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz featured a showdown between Wesley Girls’ High School, Achimota School, and St. Louis Senior High School on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Opoku Ware School went head-to-head with Pope John Senior High School and Seminary and Prempeh College while Keta Senior High Technical School took on Mfantsipim School and Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (Presec-Legon).

The 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz is produced by Primetime Limited and sponsored by the Ghana Education Service in partnership with Goil PLC and supported by A.T., Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, and Pepsodent.

In a related development, the organizer of the 2023 National Science and Mathematics Quiz, Primetime Limited has postponed the competition’s grand finale date amid the final funeral rite of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III.

Earlier slated for October 24, 2023, at the National Theatre in Accra, the organizer in a statement shared with AcademicWeek.com said the 2023 NSMQ grand finale will come off on October 31, 2023, in Greater Accra.

Primetime says the NSMQ postponement is in regard to a ban on noise-making, trading and other public activities within that period as part of a tradition in line with the final funeral rites of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III.

“Primetime Limited announces that in line with tradition, and in memory of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III, the Grand Finale of the National Science & Maths Quiz, scheduled for Tuesday, 24th October, 2023 has been postponed.

Primetime conveys its deepest condolences to His Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, Niimei, Naamei and the Ga State, during this period of mourning. May the soul of our beloved Queen Mother forever rest in peace,” it said.
