Slated for October 26, 2022, Prempeh College, Presbyterian Boys School and Adisadel College are the top-rated Senior High Schools to compete in this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz grand finale for the NSMQ trophy.
In a social media post sighted by AcademicWeek, the producer of the Science and Mathematics Quiz, Primetime Limited said the closing ceremony of the 2022 NSMQ starts at 2 pm and the final contest is at 3:30 pm on Wednesday.
After a heated semi-final contest, Kumasi-based Prempeh College secured 43 points against Abetifi SHS and Mfantsipim school who scored 40 and 38 points respectively for a ticket to the grand finale of the competition.
Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (Presec) – Legon in their semi-final round secured 51 points at the disadvantage of St James Seminary and Kumasi High School (KUHISS) who had 35 and 8 points respectively.
Adisadel College from the Central region in a heated competition also defeated their competitors St Augustine’s College and Opoku Ware with 33 points to secure a spot in the final stage of the Senior High Schools quiz program.
The organizer of the NSMQ has said the total cash prize to be awarded to the winner of the 2022 NSMQ is GH¢70,000 indicating that GH¢C30,000 will go to the school, GH¢20,000 to contestants and GH¢20,000 also to teachers.
With GH¢50,000 for the second prize, Primetime said the first runner-up school of the NSMQ will receive GH¢20,000, GH¢15,000 to contestants and also GH¢15,000 to teachers of the second-placed Senior High School.
For the second runner-up, it said the third-placed Senior High School will get GH¢15,000 with an amount of GH¢10,000 going to prospective contestants and teachers each.
“All six semifinalists who would not progress to the grand finale would receive a prize package of GH¢8,000 to be shared as follows; GH¢3,000 (school), GH¢2,500 (contestants) and GH¢ 2,500 (teachers),” the producer stated in a post.
The 2022 National Science & Maths Quiz is produced by Primetime Limited and sponsored by the Ghana Education Service (GES) in partnership with Absa Ghana and supported by GOIL.
