Out of the total number of prospective teachers who registered for the licensure examination, about 4,558 of them were re-sit candidates, with the remaining being fresh entrants at 15 examination centres throughout the country.
As part of the National Teaching Council’s effort to ensure candidates pass the national teachers examination, the Deputy Education Minister said an online portal loaded with past or sample questions has been created to assist them.
The first phase of the 2022 teacher licensure examination was recently slated to be administered in May 2022 but the management of the Council citing circumstances beyond control postponed the examination to June 13 to 14, 2022.
In a release copied to AcademicWeek, the Council said has become necessary due to the scheduled end-of-semester examination in the colleges of education resulting in the unavailability of some centres for the conduct of the GTLE.
Ahead of the licensure test, the organizers of the teachers’ examination urged the 2022 Ghana licensure examination (GTLE) candidates to be appropriately seated 30 minutes before the start of the national examination for teachers.
The Ghana Teaching Council in a communique indicated candidates who will participate in the 8th Ghana teacher licensure test in the 2022 academic year after identification by means of their ID cards or print-outs and body search.
“All candidates should be appropriately seated 30 minutes before the start of the examination after identification by means of ID Cards or print-out and body search,” the NTC said in the memo to 2022 licensure exam candidates.
GTLE is to enable qualified teachers to acquire a professional licence to meet the demands of the National Teachers’ Standards of possessing the minimum knowledge, skills, values and attitudes necessary to deliver effectively in schools.
