NTC adjudges 34yr Stella Gyimah Larbi 2022 national best teacher

34-year-old Madam Stella Gyimah Larbi of Adenta Community School in Adenta Municipality of the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, was adjudged the 2022 National Best Teacher at an award ceremony.
She was awarded a three-bedroom house worth GHC300,000 for being the most outstanding teacher for 2022. Madam Stella received the award at the Ghana Teacher Prize ceremony at the University of Development Studies, Tamale.
Ms Fati Issifu, an English teacher at Buipe Girls Model School, was named the first runner-up, and David Harrison Mensah, a Basic Design and Technology teacher at Sefwi Bekwai SDA JHS, was adjudged the second runner-up.
The 2022 edition of the Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP) is the 27th, since its establishment in 1995 and the 5th, since the rebrand from Best Teacher Award to Ghana Teacher Prize in 2018 to conform to global standards.
The government-sponsored award scheme according to Minister for Education, Dr Adutwum aims to motivate teachers to give their best as teachers and acknowledge their enormous contribution to the country’s education sector.
The management of the National Teaching Council (NTC) this year included a new award category dubbed the ‘Teacher in Leadership’ was included in the 2022 edition of the Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP). to award more teachers.
Speaking at the 2022 Teacher Prize launch of the theme “the Transformation of Education begins with Teachers, “he said the new category is to acknowledge and appreciate outstanding leadership traits in Ghana’s educational sector.
“The Most Outstanding Teacher in Leadership will get a saloon car, First Runner-up receives a cash prize, Second Runner-up gets a cash prize,” the Executive Director of the NTC, Dr Christian Addai told stakeholders at the launch.
The National Teaching Council (NTC) Director further said “For the Non-teaching category, the Best Non-teaching Staff will be awarded a car, the first runner-up gets a cash prize and the second runner-up who gets a cash prize.”
He added that “with 23 finalists competing for this year’s Ghana Teacher Prize, winners of this prestigious award scheme will be announced at a National Durbar on October 05, 2022, which coincides with World Teachers’ Day.”
