Social media usage must be introduced, regulated in schools – educationist
An educationist and Proprietor of the Charles Wesley Academy School at Oyoko, Dr Charles Annor-Frimpong has called on the Ministry of Education to introduce the use of social media in various government schools across the country.
Speaking at the 3rd Speech and Prize-giving Day of the Oyoko Methodist Senior High School (OMESS), he explained that despite the dangers associated with social media, it was also a powerful platform that helped students and teachers to keep pace with the internet revolution of teaching and learning.

The Speech and Prize-giving Day, which coincided with the 5th graduation ceremony of OMESS was on the theme: “Social media and its effects on academic excellence,” brought together students, old students and some dignitaries in the education sector.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast show monitored by AcademicWeek, the Digital Marketer and Influencer said social media has become an everyday trend and is mostly used by many individuals including prospective students in the country.
“Instead of Senior High School students particularly females using the platform for unnecessary stuff like tweaking, they should be educated on the best way to use social media to improve their studies
I think GES must also introduce social media in the school curriculum because now social media is the older of the day and now a lot of the children are on social media, they are on Facebook and other platforms,” the blogger stated.
