WAEC adds ‘withheld results checking’ tab to Waecgh.org

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has included a withheld results checking feature on its official website (https://waecgh.org) to update BECE and WASSCE for School students on the pending results release date.
A staff of the Council in discussion with an Editorial Staff of AcademicWeek said the new feature forms part of the management of the Examination Council’s effort to ensure students do not fall victim to results upgrade scams.
“The withheld results checking feature has been added to the website to give timely updates to candidates who according to WAEC allegedly engaged in examination misconduct and have had their results not released,” he stated.
Asked if the not-for-profit-making Examination Body is considering a new portal to check pending WASSCE or BECE for School results, the Council’s official said “WAEC is committed to making examination results-checking more friendly.”
He indicated that WAEC has introduced eresults.waecgh.org for candidates who sat for BECE (private and school) examinations to check their results and ghana.waecgh.org for candidates who sat for WASSCE (private & school).
“Candidates who may encounter problems in checking any of the WAEC administered examinations results should visit the Council’s helpdesk portal (https://helpdesk.waecgh.org/) for immediate support or assistance,” the staff noted.
Meanwhile, members of the general public, particularly prospective students have been cautioned to be wary of the activities of some persons who fraudulently make calls or send messages introducing themselves as staff of WAEC.
In a blog post sighted by AcademicWeek, WAEC said these unscrupulous individuals usually contact students with the request for payments to be made via mobile money transfers in other to change or upgrade their examination results.
“The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) wishes to assure members of the public that its databases are secured and that any forgery of information or results can be detected by the confirmation/verification system
Institutions and organisations are advised to confirm or verify results presented to them directly from the Council or access the confirmation/verification service online at www.waecgh.org,” the Council management said in the post.
