Adisadel College ‘bully’ WASSCE student pleads not guilty in court

The 17-year-old West African Senior School Certificate Examination candidate of Adisadel College captured in a video violently assaulting his junior in the dormitory has denied the assault charge levelled against him in court saying he is not guilty.

According to the report, the parents of the two Adisadel College students and some members of the general public were in court to witness proceedings, however, the case was heard in the judge’s chamber due to its sensitivity.

“Three-panel members who deliberated on the case today, Wednesday, August 2, 2023, include a representative of the Oguaa Traditional Council, the Judge and the Department of Social Welfare,” the local media report said.

The Cape Coast District Court following the ongoing 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has suspended proceedings of the case to September 27, 2023, to enable the final-year student to sit for the exams.

The Authorities of Adisadel College in a post sighted by AcademicWeek.com said the final-year student who has since been dismissed from the school will only write the 2023 WASSCE for School with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

Adisadel in a statement also said it has relieved the housemaster of Quaque House, Mr Ekow Holman from his position after the video of the 2023 WASSCE for School candidate assaulting another in the house went viral on social media.

In a letter to Ekow Holman sighted by AcademicWeek, the headmaster of Adisadel, Mr Samuel Koffagudogo said: “I regret to inform you that you have been relieved from your position as Quaque Housemaster with immediate effect.”

The letter titled “Relieve from Position As Housemaster added that “You may be reinstated as a housemaster based on the outcome of the investigation. You did not deliver as expected of you as housemaster as far as this video is concerned.
