Alex Opoku Manu is Overall Best 2022 WASSCE candidate – WAEC

The management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has adjudged Alex Opoku Manu as the Overall Best candidate in the 2022 edition of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School.
In a blog post sighted by AcademicWeek.com, the not-for-profit-making organization (WAEC) said Alex Opou Manu, a former student of the St. James Seminary Senior High School, Sunyani was also the Overall best in the entire region.
Benjamin Eyram Nana Kwame Degbey also from St. James Seminary Senior High School, Sunyani was adjudged the second overall best candidate in the 2022 WASSCE for School administered by the West African Examinations Council.
As the only female in the ‘overall best category’, Abena Afriyie Poku from Holy Child Senior High School, Cape Coast was adjudged third overall best candidate in the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
As the best candidate in the 2022 edition of the examination, Alex Opoku Manu was also named as the best candidate in the General Science programme of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School.
Mubarak Illiasu Danaa, a former student of T. I Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Kumasi was named the best candidate in the General Arts programme with Ato Kwamena Quansah from Presbyterian Boys as the best candidate in Business.
The 2022 WASSCE graduates were given various awards at the WASSCE Distinction Awards ceremony held at Sakyi Asare-Menako Hall to honour students who performed excellently in the West African Senior School Certificate Exam.

The Distinction Awards ceremony for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School is an initiative of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Endowment Fund (WEF). It is held annually to reward top performers in previous years WASSCE.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Endowment Fund (WEF) provides funds for awards to candidates with outstanding performance in the Council’s examinations at Senior High School (SHS) candidates.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Distinction Award, a candidate should obtain a minimum of eight (8) grade A1 at one sitting. An eligible candidate should not have engaged in any examination malpractice.
