Ghana TVET postpones technical institutes reopening date
The management of the Ghana TVET Service (TVET) following a statutory holiday has postponed the reopening date of public technical institutes from Monday, January 9, 2023, to Tuesday, January 10, 2023, for the holiday observation.
“This has become necessary due to the declaration of January 9, 2023, as a statutory public holiday by the President H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” the TVET Service said in a statement shared with AcademicWeek.com.

As students report to campus on January 10, 2023, the Service has urged all Principals of Technical institutes to put in place arrangements to welcome students on the reopening date and ensure compliance with Covid protocols.
“The management has informed Principals that they should put in place necessary arrangements to welcome students on the reopening date and ensure compliance to all Covid prevention protocols by staff students and parents,” it said.
In a related development, the Ghana Education Service (GES) after it asked prospective students in public Senior High Schools to report to campus on Monday, January 9, 2023, has postponed the reopening date amid Constitution Day.
In a statement shared with AcademicWeek, the Education Service said Senior High School reopening has been scheduled from Monday, January 9, 2023, to Tuesday, January 10, 2023, to observe the national statutory holiday.
“Management of Ghana Education Service wishes to inform students, staff and parents that due to the statutory holiday on January 9, 2023, the Senior High Schools are expected to reopen on Tuesday, January 10, 2023,” it stated.
GES, however, indicated that the Monday, January 10, 2023, reopening date for primary and Junior High School students (JHS) across the country remains the same or unchanged.
“Heads of basic schools are to note that the reopening date for primary and Junior High Schools remains January 10, 2023,” the statement dated January 7 and signed by the spokeswoman for GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo stated.
