As the 2023 academic year officially ends today Sunday, December 31, 2023, here are some 25 recognizable National and International awards won by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as compiled by VoiceofKnust.

1. 2023 National Gas Challenge Champions – KNUST.

3. 2023 National Tertiary Statistics Quiz Champions – KNUST.

4. 2023 Universities Research and Innovation Challenge Champions – KNUST.

5. 2023 Commonwealth Day Debate Champions – KNUST.

6. 2023 Ghana Universities Debate Champions – KNUST.

7. 2023 Pan African Universities Debate Champions – KNUST.

8. KNUST defeated the University of Ghana (UG) and other universities to win the “Demo Day” competition, which was held to encourage entrepreneurship.

9. Enactus KNUST won a total of €5,000.00 after emerging 1st and 2nd respectively at the BASF Excellence and Wilo Excellence Awards during the Action With Africa Challenge held in the Netherlands.

10. KNUST becomes the only University on the African continent to win the Pan African Universities Debate Championship four (4) times.

11. 43rd World Universities Debating Championships (2nd Place) – KNUST.

12. 2023 Best University in the World for the provision of Quality Education (SDG4).

14. Dr. Neta K.A Parsram, a KNUST alumnus and a medical journalist was named the Komla Dumor Most Promising Journalist of the Year at the GJA 27th Awards. – 2023

15. Abena Oteng-Abayie, a second-year KNUST BSc Chemical Engineering student emerged as a Bronze medalist at the 2023 Commonwealth Essay Competition. She was placed 3rd out of 34,924 participants who participated from 50 African countries

16. Dr. Nana Yaw Wireko-Ampong, a student of KNUST was adjudged the best student in Pharmacy Law and Ethics at the end of the 2023 Ghana Pharmacy Professional Qualifying Examination (GPPQE).

17. Magdalene Mawugbe, a 2022 graduate of KNUST was named the 2024 Rhodes Scholar for West Africa. She emerged first amongst the top 3 selected finalists shortlisted from 3,214 applications received this year.

18. Dr. Michael Opoku Fordjour from KNUST was named the overall best student at the end of the 2023 Ghana Pharmacy Professional Qualifying Examinations (GPPQE)

19. KNUST emerged as the highly recommended university in Ghana, winning across all these platforms with a total of 19,551 votes [63%]. He also emerged as the overall best student in Pharmacy Practice

20. Lady Nana Yaa Nsarko from KNUST won Miss Malaika Ghana

21. Professor William Oduro, a KNUST lecturer at the department of wildlife and range management has won a Grant of € 626,000.00 from DAAD Germany – 2023

22. Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of KNUST won a Grant of $15,400,000.

23. Three KNUST Students won two prestigious awards at the Acceleration and National Awards competition during the next Generation City Action 2023 – UIA World Congress of Architects which was held in Copenhagen, Denmark for Ghana.

24. Yvonne Bruce-Tagoe, a first-year KNUST Student who won 4 Gold Medals at the 2022 GUSA Games represented Ghana at the 2023 Billie Jean King Tennis Cup held in Kenya for her first time. She played 4 Games: 2 singles and 1 doubles, won all and lost one single.

25. KNUST was crowned 1st in top memorial, 2nd in the overall competition, 2nd in Prelims, and the 5th top Oralist out of 61 African Universities at the 32nd Christof Heyns African Human Rights Moot Court Competition – 2023
