MoE moves BECE 2023 school selection video, form to new website

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has moved this year’s schools selection video guidelines and Computerised Schools Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) school selection form from https://freeshs.net to https://freeshs.gov.gh.

The transfer comes after the domain name of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) Secretariate website https://freeshs.net which earlier hosted the video guideline on the 2023 school selection and school selection form expired.

“In a recent statement, MoE directed students who sat for this year’s BECE to visit freeshs.net to watch the school selection guideline video and download the school selection form but those files currently can be accessed at freeshs.gov.gh,” an official of the Education Ministry told Thisterm.com.

The Ministry of Education following plans to broadcast guidelines on the selection of second cycle schools by students who sat for 2023 BECE on various television networks uploaded the school selection guidelines video at freeshs.net.

“The video will be featured within schools and extensively broadcast on various television. The video and the selection form will also be accessible on the official website of the Free Senior High School Secretariat at freeshs.net,” MoE said.

Parents and guardians have been urged by the management of Ghana Education Service (GES) to take a keen interest in the selection school process to ensure a smooth Senior High School placement of the 2023 BECE graduates.

A total of 600,714 candidates, comprising 300,323 males and 300,391 females from 18,993 Junior High Schools (JHSs0 sat for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which ended on Friday, August 11, 2023.

With regard to the 2023 BECE for Private Candidates, a total entry figure of 1,743 candidates was recorded. This is made up of 889 males and 854 females. This year’s figure is 5.4% higher than the entry figure of 1,132 for 2022.

The 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates was held at 2,137 examination centres across the country, while 15 centres mainly in the regional capitals were used for the BECE for Private candidates.
