MoE outlines new steps to select STEM SHS at stem-ssp portal

After redesigning the STEM Senior High School selection and placement portal for easy navigation, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has outlined new steps or processes to select a STEM school at https://stem-ssp.com.gh.
The new steps come after a parent of a 2022 BECE graduate registered her displeasure over the complicated user interface of the portal to the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng in an interview.
How to select STEM Senior High Schools
1. Visit https://stem-ssp.com.gh
2. Click on ‘Start Selection’ on the homepage of the portal
3. Enter your Index number and Date of birth (Please ensure you enter your 10-digit index number and date of birth to verify your identity and authentication)
4. Click choose schools and select 2 STEM schools of your choice
5. Submit your selection
The Ministry of Education (MoE), has said prospective students’ selection of the 21st-century government STEM Senior High Schools at the STEM schools selection placement portal will take precedence over their initial school selection.
In a statement shared with AcademicWeek, the Education Ministry said the STEM placement portal gives access to the list of new STEM Senior High Schools (SHSs) included in the 2023 school selection and placement process.
Aside from the list of the 21st century Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) second cycle schools, the Ministry said the portal also provides information on available STEM programs and their career pathways.
“It gives further details of existing Senior High Schools that would be offering STEM programs during the 2023 academic year,” the statement signed by the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education (MoE) stated.
