MoE ‘likely’ to phase out self-placement from 2022 CSSPS

The Ministry of Education (MoE) as part of an effort to ensure the smooth placement of students who sat for the 32nd edition of BECE will reportedly phase out self-placement from the 2022 computerized school placement system.
Speaking to AcademicWeek.com on condition of anonymity, an official of the Ministry who did not confirm the self-placement phase-out said a school cluster system has been introduced in the 2022 computer school placement.
Asked why a cluster of schools system was introduced in this year’s Senior High/Technical School placement, the Education Ministry staff said the idea is to automatically place all qualified BECE candidates into various public schools
What is self-placement?
Self-placement or self-school placement is a process that allows prospective BECE candidates to go into the computerized school selection and placement system (CSSPS) to select from schools with available vacancies.
In a discussion with AcademicWeek, a staff of the Ghana Education Service said a candidate when asked to do self-placement does not mean he or she did not perform well in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
How to do self-school placement
1. Visit the CSSPS website cssps.org or cssps.gov.gh
3. Enter your Index number
4. Choose your residential preference (i.e Day or Boarding).
What is automatic placement?
Unlike self-placement, automatic placement is a process by which the Computerized school selection and placement system (CSSPS) automatically places a student, by merit, into one of his or her five chosen schools in descending order.
After ending the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination on October 21, 2022, the Ministry of Education selection of schools process by 2022 BECE for School graduates will begin from October 31, 2022, to November 18, 2022.
The Ministry in charge of Education says a video to explain the 2022 school selection guidelines to prospective candidates has been produced. The school’s selection video it said will be played on radio and television stations.
