NTC updates 2023/24 teacher licensure exam registration process

The management of the National Teaching Council (NTC) following the reform of the Ghana teacher licensure examination (GTLE) has updated the registration process for the national test for tertiary education graduates.
In an interview with AcademicWeek.com, an official of the Council said his outfit now requires pre-service teachers to provide an NTC Indexing Number during the registration process to be able to register and sit for the 2023 GTLE.
“NTC usually requires graduates to provide serial number and pin to register for the Ghana teacher licensure examination but NTC Indexing Number has been included to the documents needed for GTLE registration,” he said.
The NTC staff further noted that tertiary graduates from various education institutions seeking to write the licensure examination must ensure that they have received their NTC Indexing Number before they purchase a GTLE voucher.
The purpose of the ongoing indexing, the National Teaching Council (NTC) official said is to take details of both continuing and graduated students to generate codes for them to access resources on the NTC platforms easily.
“The indexing entails the collection of the details of all continuing and graduated education students in the Colleges of Education and Universities to generate specific codes for them to easily access the NTC online resources,” he stated.
Candidates who are not indexed according to him will not be allowed to sit for the GTLE adding that “from 2023, NTC intends to implement the indexing fee of GH¢ per student as approved by Parliament under fees and charges.”
How to get 2023 NTC indexing number
