Prempeh College to defend NSMQ title in 2022 grand finale

Prempeh College, winner of the 2021 National Science and Mathematics Quiz produced by Primetime Limited has qualified to compete in the grand finale of the 2022 edition of the Science and Maths Quiz to defend the NSMQ title.
The Kumasi-based Boys’ School’s progress to the final stage of the national competition comes after they defeated Cape-Coast’s Mfantsipim School in a close contest in the semi-final stage of the Quiz on Sunday, October 23, 2022.

Prempeh College after several rounds in the final of the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) with Presbyterian Boys School and Keta Senior High Technical School was crowned the winner of the competition.
Amanfoɔ secured 53 points to win the contest while the Legon-based Presbyterian School had 49 points and Keta SHTS, the first school from the Volta Region to make it to the NSMQ final, had 30 points.
Their 2021 win was the fifth time the College won the competitive National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ). They were crowned winners of the Primetime organized competition in 1994, 1996, 2015 and later in 2017.
Amid their ticket to the final stage of the 2022 national Quiz contest, they stand a chance of equalling two records set by Presbyterian Boys School (PRESEC) Legon: winning the trophy back-to-back and winning it for the sixth time.
In a related development, former Minister for Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh after Prempeh College won its fifth NSMQ title in 2021 expressed confidence his alma mater next year will equal the NSMQ record of Presec, Legon.
In a social media post sighted by AcademicWeek, the immediate past Education Minister said “Once again, my beloved alma mater, the prestigious Prempeh College, has lifted the covetous NSMQ trophy, this being our 5th win
Our team has made us all proud and I am confident that we will gallantly defend the cup next year, and keep it in Kumasi. We shall equal Presec’s six-win record in 2022 and break it the following year,” Dr Matthew Opoku noted.
