Primetime reschedules 2023 NSMQ grand finale from Oct 31, 2023

After postponing the 2023 National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) grand finale from October 24, 2023, to October 31, 2023, the producer of the competition, Primetime Limited says the final showdown will now take place on October 30, 2023.

Earlier slated for October 24, 2023, at the National Theatre in Accra, the organizer in a statement shared with AcademicWeek said the 2023 NSMQ grand finale will come off on October 31, 2023, in Greater Accra.

The 2023 edition of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) grand finale was postponed from October 24, 2023, to October 31, 2023, to pave the way for the final funeral rite of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III.

Primetime said the NSMQ postponement is in regard to a ban on noise-making, trading and other public activities within that period as part of a tradition in line with the final funeral rites of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III.

“Primetime Limited announces that in line with tradition, and in memory of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III, the Grand Finale of the National Science & Maths Quiz, scheduled for Tuesday, 24th October, 2023 has been postponed.

Primetime conveys its deepest condolences to His Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, Niimei, Naamei and the Ga State, during this period of mourning. May the soul of our beloved Queen Mother forever rest in peace,” it said.

However in a recent communique sighted by AcademicWeek, the organizer for the Science and Mathematics competition said the postponement of the quiz to October 30, 2023, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond its control.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. The grand finale has been rescheduled again to Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the National Theater,” Primetime Limited responsible for the NSMQ said in the communique.

Kumasi-based Opoku Ware School and Accra-based Senior High Schools Achimotal School and Presbyterian Boys Senior High School are the qualified schools to compete in this year’s National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ) final.
