SHS heads who charge unapproved fees will be sanctioned – GES
The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) says it will meter out appropriate sanctions to headteachers of government Senior High Schools (SHS) found guilty of charging first-year students of their school unapproved fees.
The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer for Ghana Education Service (GES), Henry Osei Boateng in an interview with JoyNews said his outfit has set up a committee to investigate the alleged wrongdoing of some headteachers.

“At the moment there is a committee to investigate the reports, and therefore, individuals were not asked about whether they are guilty or not. Because that is the work of the committee.
We will deal with a code of conduct of Ghana Education Service and within the code of conduct, there are sanctions for certain offences. So if individuals are found culpable then it means the sanctions appropriate will be matted to them
This is the admission process. We want them to admit the students and then talk about the challenges that they face with authorities. So that, the solution will be provided,” the Ghana Education Service spokesperson said in an interview.
Henry Boateng’s comment comes after GES released the names of second-cycle school headteachers interdicted for their alleged involvement in charging unauthorized fees from newly admitted first-year students in their schools.
