SHSs to issue approved prospectus to 2023 BECE graduates – MoE

The Ministry of Education (MoE) says it has tasked a committee to work on an approved prospectus to be given to 2023 BECE graduates awaiting computer placement into various government Senior High/Technical Schools.
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister for Education in a discussion monitored by AcademicWeek said the Senor High School prospectus will be released even before the West African Examinations Council releases the 2023 BECE results.
“We have set up a committee to look into the Senior High School prospectus and an approved prospectus will be out in the coming weeks. We will publish the list of items to be bought by BECE graduates before going to school,” he said.
The Education Minister furthered that “We will not allow any authorities of government Senior High School to issue self-made prospectus to first-year students to be admitted in their school, that era is over this academic year.”
Adutwum’s comment comes after he last academic year entreated students who were placed in various Senior High/Technical Schools to report to school even if they have not been able to procure items listed on their prospectus.
Speaking to journalists after a school placement press conference, he similarly urged parents of 2022 BECE graduates not to worry so much about meeting all the requirements on the prospectus before enrolling their children.
“Parents of Ghana, if your child has not reported to school yet because you are waiting to get all the items on the prospectus, I want you to know that my head teachers want to see you in school immediately.
“So even if you don’t have all your items, go to school the head teachers can’t wait to see you and welcome you in their schools,” the Minister in charge of Education told the media after the computer school placement briefing.
He also cautioned heads of government Senior High Schools and Senior High Technical Schools not to sack first-year students who are unable to provide all items listed on the student’s prospectus for the academic year.
“There is no way any student should be turned away from school because the parents have not been able to procure some items on the school’s prospectus,” the Education Minister told heads of Senior High/Technical Schools.
Citing the current economic situation, he said “at least, let them come to the school and the rest could be procured with some time adding “that will create an enabling environment for students, where they can study and excel.”
