T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS withdraws from 2022 NSMQ contest

Kumasi-based T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (T.I. AMASS) after being asked to participate in the preliminary stage of the ongoing 2022 National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) has withdrawn from the competition.
Popularly known as Real Amass, the Muslim school was among some 9 top runners-up Senior High Schools (SHSs) from the 2022 Regional Qualifiers invited to partake in the preliminary stage of the national championship.
In a letter to Primetime, the organizer of the NSMQ the school management said their contestants fully concentrated on WASSCE after their defeat during the Ashanti Regional Qualifiers, therefore they would not be able to compete.
“When the call-up was extended to us, our contestants had all gone home. When we assembled them finally, we realised they had all gone rusty
We tried our very best to bring them up to a level that will make them make a mark during the competition, but try as we did, our students were still not pulling themselves,” Assistant Headmaster of T. I AMASS stated in the letter.
T. I. Ahmadiyya was scheduled to compete in contest 22 against Kumasi High School and Samuel Otu Presby SHS on October 12, 2022, at the Saarah-Mensah Auditorium at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Following T.I. AMASS’ withdrawal from the competition, Primetime says Kumasi High School and Samuel Otu Presby SHS will be joined by a top runner-up in the last contest of the Preliminary Stage on Thursday, October 13, 2022.
Quarterfinals of the national quiz will begin from October 19 to 21, 2022 with semifinals on October 23, 2022. The grand finale of the National Science and Mathematics (NSMQ) contest will be held on October 26, 2022.
