WAEC give JHSs deadline to upload continuous assessment scores

The management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) after it ended the capturing and uploading of 2023 BECE candidates’ Continuous Assessment scores on June 21, 2023, has extended the period to July 14, 2023
The extension of the capture and upload of continuous assessment scores comes after the non-profit organization in a letter sighted by AcademicWeek.com said 528 basic schools (public and private) have not completed the process.
“There are five hundred and twenty-eight (528) schools (both public and private) with a total number of sixteen thousand, seven hundred and sixty-three (16,763) candidates have still not uploaded their CASS,” WAEC said.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) following the new deadline has directed Regional Directors of Education to see to it that various heads of 528 public and private basic schools have uploaded their candidates’ continuous assessment scores.
“Regional Directors are requested to bring this information to the attention of the Metro/Municipal/District Directors of the affected schools and impress upon the Heads to upload their scores before the 14th July 2023 deadline to enable WAEC to meet timelines for key activities regarding the examination,” the letter dated June 29, 2023, noted.
Over 600,000 candidates from public and private Junior High Schools according to the West African Exams Council are expected to sit for this year’s Basic Education Certificate (BECE) slated for August 7, 2023, through to August 11, 2023.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the national examination, the Council has commenced a sensitisation programme to educate final-year candidates to sit for 2023 BECE and WASSCE for School against examination malpractice.
Commenced on Thursday, July 29, 2023, it is not clear the actual date the management of the not-for-money-making organization (WAEC) will end the campaign to curb cheating in the national and international examinations.
“The West African Examinations Council embarks on a nationwide sensitisation programme for final-year candidates for both BECE and WASSCE for School Candidates, 2023,” WAEC said in a blog post sighted by AcademicWeek.com.
