WAEC gives update on 2022 WASSCE School results release

The management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it has commenced preparations to pave way for the 2022 WASSCE School results release. The examination results it said is to be expected on November 30, 2022.

In a statement copied to AcademicWeek.com, the Examinations Council said completion of co-ordination, marking exercises at 49 venues and other post-examination activities including the processing of results have commenced.

As part of measures to ensure free and fair 2022 WASSCE for School results the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) said investigations into examination irregularities cases detected during the examination are ongoing.

“The Council is hereby urging school authorities and candidates invited to its Offices to assist in an investigation into suspected cases of malpractice to endeavour to honour the invitation to facilitate speedy resolution of cases,” it stated.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) continued “prospective candidates are informed that their refusal to honour such invitations shall not preclude the Council from making a final determination on the case in question.”

“WAEC wishes to use this opportunity to caution students to be on alert for websites that may announce the release of fake results and persons who promise to upgrade results for a fee,” the Council’s management stated in the release.

A total of 422,883 candidates representing 203,753 males and 219,130 females from 977 Senior High Schools across the country participated in the just-ended Ghana version of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

In a related development, students who sat for this academic year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will check their results at the new WASSCE result-checking portal (https://ghana.waecdirect.org).

An official of WAEC in a discussion with AcademicWeek said the portal (https://eresults.waecgh.org) used by 2021 WASSCE students to check their examination results has been assigned to check only BECE School and Private results.

“Last year a technical hitch forced the West African Examinations Council to shut down https://eresults.waecgh.org over changes in the 2021 WASSCE results but this time students are to use only https://ghana.waecdirect.org,” he said.
