Gov’t school office must’ve Education Minister photo – Adutwum

Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency and Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has said every government school office must have the image of the current President and Minister in charge of Education.
In discussion with 3FM’s Dzifa Bampoh monitored by AcademicWeek, the Education Minister said the pictures at the school offices will enable prospective students to better know the faces of the two prominent personalities.
Asked how the image of the President and Sector Minister for Education contributes to teaching and learning in the classroom, Osei Yaw Adutwum said it will encourage the students to appreciate the country they are in as a child.
“They could not understand who you are so you have to start and ask who the President of Ghana is. Some of them will get it right and others will get it wrong and then you have to drill down to appreciate who you are
“Once they get to know who you are they get excited. If you go to most public offices you see the President’s picture, the coat of Arms, and civics. It gets you to appreciate the country that you are growing up in as a child,” he told 3FM.
The teaching Minister furthered that Heads of various public schools across the country need to let their students know whose picture they see adding that it could be any of the pupil’s portraits in the school office one day.
In a separate radio interview, Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum also said Senior High School education amid the introduction and implementation of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy is the best managed in the world.
In a discussion with Accra-based Starr FM monitored by AcademicWeek, the Minister of Education said President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration must be commended for implementing the popular Free Senior High School.
“If you talk about Senor High School education, Ghana has managed its senior high schools better than what’s being done in other parts of the world,” the Minister for Education told Starr FM’s ‘Morning Starr’ show host.
He noted that the Nana Akufo-Addo government as part of its effort to ensure quality school education has provided what Headmasters/mistresses need to run the day-to-day activities of the various Senior High Schools in the country.
