BECE 2023 second cycle school placement form not for sale – MoE

The second cycle school placement form which can be downloaded at https://freeshs.net for free is strictly not for sale, an official of the Ministry of Education (MoE) has cautioned heads of basic schools not to sell it to students or parents.
“Every Junior High School has been given a copy of the school selection register. The school placement form has been uploaded online on the Free SHS Secretariat website (https://freeshs.net) and is not for sale,” he told AcademicWeek.
A total of 600,714 candidates, comprising 300,323 boys and 300,391 girls from 18,993 Junior High Schools participated in the 2023 BECE for School Candidates which began on Monday, August 7, 2023, to Friday, August 11, 2023.
With regard to the 2023 BECE for Private Candidates, a total entry figure of 1,743 candidates was recorded. This is made up of 889 males and 854 females. This year’s figure is 5.4% higher than the entry figure of 1,132 for 2022.
The 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates was held at 2,137 examination centres across the country, while 15 centres mainly in the regional capitals were used for the BECE for Private candidates.
To ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the 2023 BECE for School and Private, A total of 2,137 supervisors, 2,000 supervisors and 21,027 invigilators were tasked to oversee the administration of the national examination.
In a related development, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it three weeks after the conduct of the Basic Education Certificate Examination will begin the marking of the BECE for School and Private Candidates’ scripts.
In a discussion with AcademicWeek, a staff of the non-profit-making organization said the duration of the marking process and when to expect the release of BECE results will be determined by RPCC after prelim coordination meetings.
How to check 2023 BECE results
To check your 2023 BECE result online, you will need a result checker card or voucher. To purchase the BECE result checker card from WAEC, kindly dial *944# on your mobile phone and follow the instructions on the screen.
1. Visit the BECE result-checking portal
3. Confirm your Index number
4. Select examination type ( BECE School)
5. Select examination year (e.g. 2023)
6. Enter your Serail number (e.g. 180000000001).
7. Enter your Pin (A1B2C3D4E5F9)
8. Click on submit and wait a while for a window to display your BECE result.
For candidates who may encounter problems during the 2023 BECE result-checking process, the management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has said an email can be sent to them for immediate support.
