CSSPS warns internet cafe operators over school placement

Internet cafe operators or attendants following the release of the computer school placement of students who partook in the 2022 BECE for School have been asked to desist from selecting random second-cycle schools for students.
A staff of the computerized school selection and placement system in a discussion with AcademicWeek said internet cafe attendants sometimes contribute to the challenges faced during the computer school placement each year.
According to him, some cafe operators usually select random schools, especially for students doing self-placement. “They do this in other to get the time to check the placement of more students for their financial gains,” he added.
On the part of students who will be participating in the computerised placement exercise, the CSSPS official entreated them to not leave their school choices to an internet cafe attendant or operator in the case of self-placement.
He similarly urged parents and guardians of the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates to take a keen interest in the Senior High School computer placement of their wards to avoid mistakes or bad school selection.
In line with the management of the Selection and Placement System, the Ghana Education Service has alerted the public, particularly students and parents to be careful of individuals who claim to have access to the placement system.
A staff of the Ghana Education Service has urged students participating in the national school placement process to be vigilant and disregard assertions by some internet cafe operators who claim can change their school placement.
“The activity of some internet cafe operators claiming to have access to the computerized placement system last year came to our notice, we urge parents and students this year to be vigilant during the school checking,” he stated.
The unscrupulous cafe operators he said lure the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates to pay an amount of money for their already placed or selected Senior High School to be changed to their preferred choice.
The GES official indicated the computerized school placement system (CSSPS) portal as part of measures to ensure the smooth placement of all successful 2022 BECE students has been secured and is not possible to be compromised.
“Any person who contacts you to pay any amount of money for your placed or selected school to be changed or claims to have access to the school placement system or websites is a fraudster,” the GES staff told AcademicWeek.
