Dr. Francis Kwadwo Awuah now Head of Department of KNUST’s Department of Education
Dr. Francis Kwadwo Awuah has been appointed as the new Head of the Department of Teacher Education at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST. He will take over from Dr. Patrick Swanzy with effect from 1st November,2023.
He holds a PhD in mathematics, science and technology education from the University of South Africa, a Master’s in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics , both from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. He also holds Diploma in Risk management and Project Management from the Oxbridge Academy, South Africa.

Scholarly works by the proud MOBA (Mfantsipim School Old Boys Association) have been published in reputable journals in Statistics/ Mathematics Education.

The Department of Teacher Education is one of the academic departments within the Faculty of Educational Studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The Department offers Undergraduate Academic Programs in Teacher Education as well as Postgraduate Programs in Educational Planning and Administration and ICT Education. Deadline for sale of Admission forms and completion of online application is 30 November, 2023.
The current Dean of the Faculty of Educational Studies is Prof. Winston Kwame Abroampa. The Faculty is responsible for mentoring KNUST Affiliated Colleges of Education by providing Professional Development (PD) manual training to their PDCs, Subject Leads, and Heads of Department (HoDs).
These five education colleges affiliated with KNUST are Wesley College of Education, Kumasi, Akrokerri College of Education, Akrokerri, St. Joseph’s College Education, Bechem, Tamale College of Education, Tamale and Evangelical Presbyterian College of Education, Bimbilla.
