The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to roll out a new app dubbed GES PLC App in a bid to improve the implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in basic schools across the country.
In a statement copied to AcademicWeek.com, the Service said the developed and robust integrated application system known as the GES PLC App was developed with technical assistance from the Ghana Library Authority.
“The rollout will be done in three phases with phase one being the basic schools in Upper West, Northern, Oti, Bono East, Greater Accra, and Western Regions in January 2023,” the Ghana Education Service stated in the press release.
For effective use of the App, GES said virtual training sessions will be conducted for District Training Officers, ICT Coordinators, Deputy Directors of Supervision, School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs), and Basic School Coordinators.
“Coordinators will be trained on the use of the GES PLC App to support their basic schools for effective implementation of PLCs in schools. The link for the meeting will be shared in due course
GES requests Regional Directors of Education concerned officially inform their Metro, Municipal, and District Directors to arrange for the officers mentioned above to fully participate in the virtual training,” the Education Service noted.
When rolled out, the Ghana Education Service (GES) PLC App is expected to improve the implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in basic schools, ultimately leading to better learning outcomes for students.
