PRESEC beats OWASS and MOTOWN to win 2023 edition of NSMQ
Presbyterian Boys Second School (PRESEC) has outperformed Opoku Ware School and Achimota School (MOTOWN) to win the 2023 edition of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) organized by Primetime Limited.
Winning the competition for the 8th time, The All Boys Senior High School ended the final round 5 with 40 points as against Achimota School’s 28 points as silver medalists and Opoku Ware School’s 23 points as bronze medalists.

Reacting to PRESEC’s win, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister for Education commended Primetime Limited, for initiating the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) for Senior High School (SHS) students in the country.
Speaking at the grand finale of the NSMQ at the National Theater in Accra on Monday, October 30, 2023. he said the programme has whipped up interest in the study of science and its related programmes among SHS students.
Profile of PRESEC
Established in 1938, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) is a secondary boarding school for boys, it is located in Legon, Accra, Ghana. It was founded in 1938, under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church of the Gold Coast.
The school was originally located in Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana before moving to its current location in Legon, in 1968. The school anthem is “Happy Are We”, written by J. L. Anang and transcribed by Stephen Appiah Danquah.
The Presbyterian Boys School has the most NSMQ trophies. With thirteen appearances in the final stage of the Science and Maths quiz, PRESEC is the 8-time champion of the competition (1995, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2020, 2022 and 2023).
