PRINCOF reduces final year CoE trainees 2021/22 exam fee

The Principal of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) after a discussion with the Teacher Trainee Association of Ghana (TTAG) has approved GH¢150 as a 2021/2022 first-semester exam fee for final-year College of Education students.

In a release shared with AcademicWeek, the Trainees Association said “final year trainees are to pay a comparatively moderate amount of GH¢150 instead of GH¢370.00 for the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic year.

“In the case of those who have made payment for the second-semester fee, a top-up payment of the GH¢150 could be made to encompass the fees for both semesters after October 14 when the portal is fully updated,” TTAG added.

The Teachers Association of Ghana also said measures will be put in place to reimburse government College of Education teacher trainees who have already made payment of the initial fee on the amount due to them.

“Forthwith, we would entreat to all defaulters of the semester and examination fees to endeavour to settle them with immediate effect,” the leadership of the Teacher Trainee Association urged in the statement dated October 12, 2022.

“We would want to, on behalf of the teacher trainees express our recondite gratitude to the leadership of GTEC. PRINCOF and IOE-UCC for considering our appeal as a joint quest to prioritize the good interest of trainees,” TTAG stated.

The reduction of the exam fee to GH¢150.00 comes after the TTAG advised teacher trainees in all 46 public Colleges of Education to halt payment of the overpriced GH¢370.000 as the first-semester examination fee until further notice.

We reiterate that all local and sector executives of TTAG are to ensure that all final-year trainees adhere strictly to the directive to halt payment of the examination fees until they hear from the National Secretariate,” TTAG said in a release.
