2023 SHS placement examination to be conducted online – CSSPS

This year, foreign students who would like to attend any of the 912 second-cycle schools in the country will sit for a school placement examination online, a staff of the computerized school selection and placement system has said.
In a discussion monitored by AcademicWeek, CSSPS coordinator, Mark Sasu said the Minister for Education, Dr Adutwum has approved for foreign students to sit for the school placement exams online before being placed.
Asked which type of students are referred to as foreign students, the computerized school selection and placement system official explained that they are students whose parents are Ghanaians but schooled outside the country.
“This year, Education Minister, Dr Adutwum has said we should let them sit for their examination online. It will be conducted and marked online so if you qualify, you choose your school for placement,” Mr Sasu Mensah noted.
In another story, an official of the Ministry of Education has said a shortcode in due course will be released by the Ghana Education Service for students who sat for 2022 BECE to verify and confirm their selected schools for placement.
In a discussion with AcademicWeek’s Editorial Staff, the Education Ministry (MoE) staff said the shortcode will help address the majority of computer placement challenges that usually confront the school placement system process.
“This academic year, a shortcode will be announced for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School students to verify and confirm their selected second cycle schools,” the MoE staff told AcademicWeek.com.
He indicated that the Ghana Education Service (GES) would give prospective 2022 BECE School students the opportunity to text a shortcode to confirm their school preferences before CSSPS placement early next year.
For students who will detect an error or mistake in their school choices, he said they are to report the issue or mistake immediately to their Head of school or teacher for necessary corrections to be made by the Ghana Education Service.
