T-TEL presents ‘GTP’ Best College of Education Tutor prize to NTC

T-TEL, a not-for-profit organisation that provides high-quality technical advice and implementation support services has presented the Best College of Education Tutor prize for this year’s Ghana Teacher Prize to the National Teaching Council.
A Toyota double-cabin pickup presented by Transforming Teaching, Education & Learning (T-TEL) according to a social media post sighted by AcademicWeek will be given to the winner of the 2023 Best College of Education Tutor prize
Twenty-eight (28) tutors from more than 10 government Colleges of Education (CoE) in the country according to a source have applied for the Best College Tutor Award in this year’s Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP).
The Colleges of the applicants are Wesley College of Education – Kumasi, St. Monica’s College of Education – Kumasi, St. Teresa’s College of Education – Hohoe, Gambaga College of Education, Atebubu College of Education, Peki College of Education, Presbyterian College of Education – Akropong-Akuapem, St Ambrose College of Education – Dormaa-Akwamu.
Others are Ola College of Education – Cape Coast, Akatsi College of Education, Offinso College of Education, Holy Child College of Education – Takoradi, Enchi College of Education, St. John Bosco’s College of Education – Navrongo, Accra College of Education, SDA College of Education – Asokore and Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education.
The introduction of the Best College Tutor Award in Ghana Teacher Prize comes after the Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Adutwum at the 2022 GTP Grand Durbar recommended that the award scheme should be extended to teachers in the higher education sector.
In November 2022, a seven-member committee was inaugurated by the National Teaching Council to develop modalities that will be used for the Best College Tutor Category of the Ghana Teacher Prize.
The Committee was chaired by Professor Christine Adu-Yeboah of the Institute of Education, University of Cape Coast. Other members of the Committee included the National Coordinator for the Ghana Teacher Prize, a rep each from PRINCOF, CETAG, and GTEC, as well as two astute educationists.
The committee developed the selection criteria, application form, Ghana Teacher Prize screening guidelines, interview selection criteria, and Scoresheet for the Most Outstanding College of Education Tutor.
The National Teaching Council (NTC) is expected to announce the top 5 finalists of the Best College Tutor Award category on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, during the launch of the 2023 Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP).
