“Approved WAEC registration fee for entry in 7 or 8 subjects is GH¢381.24. This figure is exclusive of the fees for practical or oral tests which range between GH¢14.50 and GH¢19.50 per practical test,” the Exams Council stated.
Following the opening of the 2023 WASSCE School registration portal, it cautioned heads of Senior High Schools not to register non-school or unqualified candidates for the national examination solely for school candidates.
Any Senior High School found culpable, WAEC said will have the entire WASSCE results of the non-school/unqualified candidate withheld pending the outcome of an investigation by the appropriate Committee of the Council.
It also said a report will be made to the Ministry of Education (MoE) or the appropriate WAEC Board for disciplinary action against the responsible person(s) adding that the affected school will be De-recognition for not less than a year.
A total of 978 private and public Senior High Schools according to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) are expected to present candidates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School.
“Candidates are urged to ensure that their bio-data is captured correctly as no amendment of date of birth, re-arrangement/addition or subtraction of names will be entertained after the release of results and certificates,” it noted.
This year, Ghana will for the second time not write WASSCE for School with other member countries of the Council including Nigeria and Sierra Leone. WAEC when asked for comment on the decision did not respond immediately.
The Ghana only version of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School will be conducted from Monday, July 31, 2023 to Tuesday, September, 26, 2023 at various examination centres nationwide.
“The final timetable for the examination will be made available to all schools and will be on the WAEC website as well. Candidates are advised to contact their schools or visit the WAEC website for the accurate timetable,” WAEC said.
