WAEC gives date and facts about the WASSCE Distinction Awards

As the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) prepares to hold its annual WASSCE Distinction Awards ceremony, the management of the Council has revealed some facts about the honourary event the international examination.
Slated for June 22, 2023, the not-for-profit organisation says it will hold the 2022 WASSCE for School Distinction Awards ceremony to honour students who performed excellently in the examination at Sakyi Asare-Menako Hall.
Facts
The Distinction Awards ceremony for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School is an initiative of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Endowment Fund (WEF). It is held annually to reward top performers in previous years WASSCE.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Endowment Fund (WEF) provides funds for awards to candidates with outstanding performance in the Council’s examinations at Senior High School (SHS) candidates.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Distinction Award, a candidate should obtain a minimum of eight (8) grade A1 at one sitting. An eligible candidate should not have engaged in any examination malpractice.
Selection procedure
Raw scores of eligible candidates are standardised ie converted to T-scores. The T-scores are used to rank the candidates and select the award winners.
