WAEC sends message to 2022 WASSCE results withheld candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has asked some students who sat for the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination and have had their WASSCE results withheld to report to two of its branch offices.

The not-for-profit-making organization in a communique sighted by AcademicWeek said WASSCE graduates who took the examination at Central, Ahafo, Bono and Bono East regions are to report to its Cape Coast and Sunyani offices

The affected students, WAEC said are to report to its Cape Coast branch office from March 28 to March 30, 2023, and Sunayni branch office from March 28 to March 31, 2023, to assist with investigations into examination malpractice.

“Affected students are to visit https://www.waecgh.org and click on the withheld button for further details on the withheld WASSCE results. The investigation is to assist the Council conclude investigations into alleged irregularities,” it noted.

The management of the West African Examinations Council added that “Candidates are being informed that their refusal to honour this invitation shall not preclude the Council from making a final determination on the cases.

The Ghana version of the 2022 WASSCE for School Candidates was administered to four hundred and twenty-two thousand, eight hundred and eighty-three (422,883) candidates from 977 Senior High Schools in the country.

The second-cycle schools were made up of 673 public schools and 304 private schools. The number of public Senior High Schools that presented candidates for this year’s examination increased from 651 in 2021 to 673 in 2022.

A total of seven hundred and seventy-five (775) centres were used for the examination. Sixty (60) subjects, comprising four (4) core and fifty-six (56) electives were made available to prospective candidates to choose from.

The 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) which commenced on Monday, August 1, 2022, with the Visual Art Project Work options and ended on September 27, 2022, with ICT Paper 3 Practical.
