OWASS pilot jets school 2023 NSMQ finalists from KNUST to Accra

An old student of Opoku Ware School and Africa World Airlines (AWA) pilot, Katakyie Said Naaman today landed the 2023 National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) contestants of his school in Accra for the grand finale of the competition.
Producer of the NSMQ announcing the arrival of OWASS said “The contestants from Opoku Ware School came to Accra today via Africa World Airlines to prepare for the #NSMQ2023 grand finale. They had the opportunity to meet the pilot, an OWASS old boy, Katakyie Said Naaman [BN525].”
Kumasi-based Opoku Ware School and Accra-based Senior High Schools Achimotal School and Presbyterian Boys Senior High School are the qualified schools to compete in this year’s National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ) final.
In a related development, the 2023 Science and Mathematics Quiz grand finale earlier slated for October 24, 2023, has been postponed to October 31, 2023, amid the final funeral rite of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III.
The producer of the National Quiz for Senior High Schools (SHSs) in a statement shared with AcademicWeek said the competition will come off at the National Theatre in Accra, on the new date communicated to the general public.
Primetime says the NSMQ postponement is in regard to a ban on noise-making, trading and other public activities within that period as part of a tradition in line with the final funeral rites of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III.
“Primetime Limited announces that in line with tradition, and in memory of the late Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru III, the Grand Finale of the National Science & Maths Quiz, scheduled for Tuesday, 24th October, 2023 has been postponed.
Primetime conveys its deepest condolences to His Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, Niimei, Naamei and the Ga State, during this period of mourning. May the soul of our beloved Queen Mother forever rest in peace,” it said.
