WAEC opens 2023/24 WASSCE for School registration – Register

2023 WASSCE for School registration has commenced for Senior High/Technical School students who wish to participate in this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination, the West African Exams Council has said.
In a blog post sighted by AcademicWeek, the management of the Examinations Council said the WASSCE for School registration portal opened on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, will be closed on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
“The Council has from today, March 15 2023, opened the portal for the registration of candidates for WASSCE for School Candidates. The registration portal will be closed on Wednesday, 19th April 2023,” WAEC stated in the post.
The Ghana version of the international examination according to the management of the not-for-profit organization will be administered from Monday, July 31, 2023, through to Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
“The final timetable for the 2023 examination will be made available to all schools and will be on the WAEC website as well. Candidates are advised to contact their schools or visit the WAEC website for an accurate timetable,” it said.
As a school examination for only final year Senior High School students only, WAEC has cautioned heads of schools not to solicit students and advertise the WASSCE for School Candidates in any form e.g. in print, electronic or social media.
It has also cautioned them not to register students who have not been enrolled in Senior High School (SHS) from their first year through to the third year and do not have the required continuous assessment records.
“Such students are being advised to register for the WASSCE for Private Candidates which has been specifically designed for remedial students to register for the number of subjects they wish to take,” the organization noted.
The registration fee for entry in 7 or 8 subjects, the West African Examinations Council said is GH¢381.24. The amount it is exclusive of the fees for practical or oral tests which range between GH¢14.50 and GH¢19.50 per practical test.
“The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has held briefing sessions nationwide for authorities of 978 schools that are expected to present candidates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination,” it said in the post.
This year’s examination, WAEC has indicated will once again be a Ghana-only version of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and will be conducted from Monday, 31st July to Tuesday, 26th September 2023.
