Dr Adutwum as Education Minister sign of hope – Teachers
Teachers after President Akufo-Addo appointed the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum as Education Minister in 2021 said his new position gives hope things will be better in the education sector.
Honourable Yaw Adutwum’s appointment as the Minister for Education comes after His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the 2020 December election was re-elected as President of the Republic of Ghana until late 2024.

Adutwum prior to his new assignment as the Minister for Education taking over from Matthew Opoku Prempeh served as the Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Pre-tertiary Education from March 2017 to late December 2020.
Commenting on his appointment, both private and public school teachers and stakeholders in the educational sector said his role as the Education Minister is a sign of hope indicating great things will happen in the education sector.
“We thank President Nana Akufo-Addo for appointing Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum will be the new Minister in charge of Education. There will be hope again in the education sector”, a government school teacher stated on social media.
The teacher said unlike the immediate past Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh who was a medical doctor by profession, Mr Yaw Osei Adutwum as a professional teacher will understand the needs of teachers.
In another development, the Bosomtwe Member of Parliament, Dr Osei Adutwum after a report claimed he had misused $1.2 million World Bank money meant for training teachers has said he is not a corrupt Minister for Education.
Explaining the allegation, he said his outfit has undertaken digital literacy training for over 41,000 teachers in the country adding “a platform was created for teachers and on that platform, teachers went there and did the training.”
Mr Yaw Adutwum stressed that he came to the country and accepted to be Education Minister to help project President Nana Akufo-Addo and ensure that his vision for the transformation of education is accomplished.
“I did not come to the country to be corrupt, I will never do that. The amount is sitting in the Ministry of Education (MoE) account. So ladies and gentlemen nothing can be further from the truth,” Honourable Osei Yaw told journalists.
